What to bring?
Materials that would be essential for the development of your practice. Rain wear, hiking gear, sun-block, swim-suite always a good idea.
Visa?
No visa needed. Free entry for up to 90 days per calendar year.
How can I resource materials?
To know more about the resources we provide see Materials on Resident Handbook. Additionally you are free to use any raw material within our grounds. If you want to use something from the plantations just ask the Site Manager.
Do I need to learn Spanish?
No but it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the language before arriving, practice your basic transactional/conversational phrases.

No.
Who gets in?
Artist of exceptional talent in different stages of their career. BFA degree is required. See Apply section for requirements.
Are writers considered?
Yes very much so, artists of any medium are welcome to apply.
Am I eligible for a fellowship?
Anyone that meets our application requirements is eligible same goes for merit based scholarship.
When can I apply?
Acitve open calls are communicated through our instagram @naveproyecto .
Deadlines?
Same.
I want to cook my own meals sometimes.
We have 3 meals a day provided for all our residents. We have industrial kitchens so we don't recommend using them by yourself.
Do we get an exhibition?
We encourage every group to organize an exhibition since all the resources to instal one are available, we are happy to assist you in developing one but ultimately its up to the group to decide.
I want to travel while on the residency.
You are more than welcome to do so, we would be happy to assist you regarding possible destinations must see's etc. Sometimes we travel together :)
Can I bring friend/spouse/kids?
No kids allowed, spouse or friend can be accommodated only if the whole group agrees and there's space available + payment of maintenance fee.
Laundry?
We do have a washer and drier room.
Open Bar where can I buy?
No. but we do try to have the bar stocked See Resident Handbook regarding our policies. We sell snacks, water etc. on site.
Can I swim in the pond?
Yes but its full of algae.
Is there a waiting list?
Accepted applicants are notified as soon as possible normally within 2 weeks. If there is no more space available but we are interested in your work you could be assigned a later date to attend.
Outlets?
Ecuador uses 110 volt, 60 cycle electricity. Plugs are typically 2 flat prongs although 3 hole ones are common too. If you live in the US you won't need an adapter.
Cell phone service?
Like all rural areas in Ecuador cellphone service is available but intermittent. We have a phone line on site + strong wifi connection.
Can I re-schedule my residency?
Full cancelation after payment and refund only available within 2 weeks prior arrival date.
Can I pay with a credit card?
Yes, let us know and we'll contact you about it.
What do you do with the money?
Our funds almost in their totality go towards covering operational costs meaning rent, services, logistics, payment of our staff and creditors and maintenance of our grounds and website presence. The rest goes towards maintaining strong funding opportunities and scholarships for our artists and funding our Visiting Artist and Studio Visit program. A smaller portion will also enable us to partially support our operational costs in Chicago and sustain an exciting and diverse programing year round.
How safe is this?
We have private security on site on a permanent basis.
